The two-day competition at NC State's Paul Derr Track & Field Facility is set to begin on Friday at 9 a.m. ET, with Saturday's action scheduled to start at 11 a.m. The Mountaineers also will be represented at Stanford, where Friday's events are slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET at the Cobb Track and Angell Field.
"We have the team split and heading in two directions this weekend," WVU coach Sean Cleary said. "The majority of the team will see action in North Carolina, while a handful of kids will be out west. This is a great opportunity for the kids in California to put up some marks that would get them qualified for the NCAA Championships. The group, for the most part, has not competed yet this spring, so this is a huge opener for them.
"North Carolina also looks to have a wonderful field. We are looking to keep the pole vault momentum going, while adding in a few new faces into the results. It's very important that we improve weekly, and this is a perfect chance to do just that."

The Mountaineers last competed at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina, from March 16-17. WVU earned three top-10 finishes at the outdoor season-opening meet, including a victory by senior Sara Finfrock in the women's pole vault. Finfrock earned a mark of 3.90 meters (12 feet, 9.50 inches) to claim the win. Additionally, senior Rebekah Lafata placed fourth in the pole vault (3.50 meters), while freshman McKenna Smith finished in 10th place in the women's 400 meters (57.02).
The team competed at both the Raleigh Relays and Stanford Invitational last season. In Raleigh, the Mountaineers tallied eight top-10 finishes, including a pair of wins. Junior Danique Bryan won the women's long jump with a mark of 5.86 meters, before senior Shamoya McNeil took the win in the women's triple jump with a then-career-best mark of 12.80 meters.
WVU is among more than 120 collegiate programs competing at NC State this weekend.
Redshirt senior Maggie Drazba represented the Mountaineers at the Stanford Invitational last spring. The St. Marys, West Virginia, native posted a 10th-place finish in the women's 10,000-meter run in 34:04.26.
The Mountaineers have competed at Stanford each year in the past decade.
