WVU Claims Four Wins in Tournament Finale

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Highlighted by four singles wins against Marquette in the final day, the West Virginia University tennis team completed its weekend at the Louisville Tennis Classic on Sunday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky.
"We finished the tournament on a high note," coach Miha Lisac said. "We will take the lessons from this weekend into the next tournament at Florida State."
Singles Recap
West Virginia competed in one round of singles play against Marquette in Sunday's tournament finale. WVU came out strong, claiming four straight wins against the Golden Eagles.
Playing in the No. 1 slot, junior Christina Jordan defeated Marquette's Fleur Eggnik in a three-set, super tiebreaker, 6-4, 2-6, 10-5.
Additionally, freshman Anastasiia Bovolskaia, sophomore Anne-Sophie Courteau and junior Sofia Duran each claimed two-set, singles victories. Bovolskaia bested Marquette's Alexandrina Chinikova, 6-2, 6-2. Courteau defeated Marquette's Lesley Foe, 6-2, 6-2. Duran claimed the fourth and final Mountaineers' win of the day over Marquette's Isabella Franks, 6-2, 6-2.
Senior Abigail Rosiello dropped her final match to Marquette's Elisabeth Desmarais, 0-6, 3-6.

The Mountaineers will wrap up the fall season next weekend, when they travel to Tallahassee, Florida, to compete in the Florida State All-Conference Showdown from Nov. 9-11.
