– Despite a 25-point effort from senior forward
Teana Muldrow, the No. 12/11 West Virginia women's basketball team struggled offensively and fell to Kansas State, 60-52, in Big 12 play at the WVU Coliseum on Wednesday.
Muldrow led the Mountaineers (13-2, 1-2) in scoring and grabbed 10 boards to earn a double-double – her eighth of the season. Redshirt junior center

Chania Ray dished out a team-high seven assists, the eighth game this season she has tallied at least five assists.
The Mountaineers out-rebounded the Wildcats, 43-40, while also holding a 16-14 advantage in assists. WVU scored 16 points off Kansas State (9-5, 1-2) turnovers, while scoring 15 points off second-chance points to the Wildcats' 10. WVU shot a season low 30 percent from the field in the loss.

Muldrow registered eight of the Mountaineers first 11 points as WVU led the Wildcats, 11-7, heading into the first media timeout. Following the break in the action, the Mountaineers capitalized on a turnover as Ray scored a layup to push the WVU lead to six. West Virginia pushed the lead to nine with a free throw from
Destiny Harden with 3:14 to go in the first. Muldrow finished the first quarter with 10 points, as WVU led K-State, 18-14.
Ashley Jones knocked down a 3-pointer coming out of the first intermission to give WVU a seven-point lead. Following a three-minute scoreless streak, Jones would hit another shot from downtown to give the Mountaineers a, 24-17, advantage. The Wildcats would rally to even the score at 28 with 1:05 to go. After a WVU timeout, Ekhelar converted an and-one to give the Mountaineers a 31-28 lead going into halftime.
Pardee began the third by hitting a 3 to stretch the lead to six before the Wildcats would answer to make the score, 34-31. Muldrow scored six of the next eight Mountaineer points to give West Virginia a 42-38 lead heading into the media timeout. Ekhelar added a layup with 2:55 to go, but the Mountaineers would not score another bucket in the quarter, allowing Kansas State to cut the lead to 44-42 at the end of the third quarter.
Kansas State took their second lead of the contest after knocking down a free throw 59 seconds into the fourth quarter. The Mountaineers were unable to overcome the deficit as the Wildcats outscored the Mountaineers, 18-8, to take the 60-52 victory.
West Virginia remains in Morgantown to host Iowa State on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. ET on AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh.
