WVU Ranked No. 17 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's basketball team ranks at No. 17 in the latest Associated Press Poll, released on Monday.
The Mountaineers (15-3) ranked at No. 15 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Top 25 Poll released last week. The next USA Today Poll is slated for Tuesday.
WVU earned 256 points and is one of four Big 12 teams to appear in the rankings, with two others receiving votes. Baylor (15-1) moved up another spot to No. 4 to lead all Big 12 schools with 698 points while Texas (14-2) dropped two spots to No. 9 with 540 points. Oklahoma State (12-4) ranks at No. 24 with 96 points. Both TCU and K-State received votes in this week's pool.
The Mountaineers moved to 3-3 in Big 12 play after going 1-1 on the week. On Wednesday, WVU picked up a 74-54 win over Kansas in Lawrence before falling to TCU, 76-74, in overtime on Saturday in Morgantown. Junior guard Naomi Davenport led the squad in both contests, averaging 19.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game. Senior forward Kristina King picked up her second double-double of the season against the Horned Frogs with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
West Virginia hits the road for a pair of games this week. The Mountaineers travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Wednesday for an 8 p.m. ET tilt with No. 24 OSU at Gallagher-Iba Arena. They continue on to Ames, Iowa, on Saturday to face Iowa State at 2 p.m. ET at Hilton Coliseum.
