The Werribee, Victoria, Australia, native finished in 12th place at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational last Friday in University Park, Pennsylvania, pacing the Mountaineers to a sixth-place finish as a team.
Cashin ran Penn State's Blue-White Golf Course (6k) in 21:49. She was the first of three Mountaineers to finish in the top 30. The meet featured a field of 85 runners.
"Amy is beginning to get herself into the sort of shape that she expects from herself," coach Sean Cleary said. "A few more weeks and she should be in a great position to reach her goals."
The performance was Cashin's second consecutive top-15 finish to start the season. She also took second place at the Lehigh Invitational on Sept. 1.
Cashin is the third Mountaineer in program history to earn the conference's weekly honor. Jillian Forsey was named the Big 12 Runner of the Week last year, while Sarah Martinelli received the honor in 2013.
The Mountaineers will next compete on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.
