Mountaineers, Longhorns Hook Up Tonight

KANSAS CITY - Second-seeded West Virginia will play No. 10 seed Texas in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship quarterfinals tonight at 7 p.m. EST.
The Longhorns (11-21) upset No. 7 seed Texas Tech 61-52 last night by overcoming an early 12-point Red Raider lead.
Guard Andrew Jones scored 15 points, Kerwin Roach Jr. scored 13 and freshman center Jarrett Allen added 10 to boost Texas’ record to 6-1 in Big 12 Championship first round games.
The Mountaineers (24-7) swept the season series against Texas, winning 74-72 in Austin and 77-62 in Morgantown.
Guard Jevon Carter played well in both games, scoring 17 points, grabbing four rebounds and handing out three assists in Austin, and producing 24 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in Morgantown last month.
West Virginia is now 3-4 in Big 12 Championship games, reaching Saturday’s finals last year before losing to Kansas 81-71.
Tonight’s game against the Longhorns will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
