MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team splits for a pair of meets this weekend as select members will compete at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington, while others head to the Marshall Invitational in Huntington, West Virginia, on Feb. 10-11.
“We feel this is an important weekend for the team,” said coach Sean Cleary. “Coming off a solid performance last weekend has allowed us to both gain some momentum and pin point what needs work. Training has gone well this week, and we expect the results to follow.”
Three Mountaineers will travel to compete at the Husky Classic in Seattle – juniors Jillian Forsey and Maggie Drazba and redshirt freshman Candace Jones. Forsey and Drazba will run in the women’s 5,000 meters which kicks off at 9:05 p.m. ET, and Jones will take on Saturday’s competition in the women’s 800 meters at 2:25 p.m. ET.
Other members of the WVU squad will take the short trip to Huntington to compete at the Marshall Invitational, which kicks off at 5 p.m. ET on Friday and 9 a.m. ET on Saturday. The Herd will host 17 schools at the Chris Cline Athletic Complex.
