MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's tennis team concludes its fall season at the Florida State All-Conference Showdown from Nov. 10-12, in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Mountaineers are joined by nine teams from six different conferences: Florida State, Furman, Iowa, Middle Tennessee, Troy, UCF, USF, Wisconsin and WVU. All matches from the event will take place at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
"It is another great opportunity for us to continue to work on getting better and seeing different players and teams in competitive opportunities," fifth-year coach Miha Lisac said. "The focus for our weekend is to build upon where we were last week and take some of the toughness that we showed in those matches into this week. At the same time, we have to work at closing out matches and taking advantage of opportunities better."
The Mountaineers will compete in various singles and doubles bracketed flights, with each player being guaranteed at least three matches over the course of the three-day tournament. Draws will be available Thursday night on WVUsports.com.
The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. ET each day, with competition lasting until approximately 5 p.m.
This fall, senior Lyn Yuen Choo has registered a team-high eight wins in singles play and needs just two victories to reach 50 in her career. Junior Paula Goetz ranks second on the team with seven, while freshman Giovanna Caputo is third with six singles wins. The tandem of Choo and Caputo have a 4-1 record doubles play this fall to lead the Mountaineers. Choo also has tallied a team-high eight doubles wins.
