WVU Heads to Louisville Tennis Classic

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's tennis team continues its fall season with a trip to, Louisville, Kentucky, to compete at the Louisville Tennis Classic on Nov. 3-5.
"We are looking forward to having a good weekend of competitive situations and a lot of matches," fifth-year coach Miha Lisac said. "Our goal is to continue to be to get better in singles and doubles play, and this weekend will provide a lot of opportunities for us to do that."
The Mountaineers will join host Louisville, Ball State and Michigan State, as the four squads will compete in a hidden-dual tournament. All matches from the event will take place at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
The Mountaineers are slated to open the weekend on Friday with a 10 a.m. tilt against Michigan State in doubles play. WVU will close out Friday's doubles action at 11 a.m. against Ball State. In the afternoon, West Virginia will take on Louisville in a singles match at 1:30 p.m., with the No. 7 and No. 8 singles matches slated to begin at noon.
On Saturday, West Virginia will begin at 10 a.m. with a doubles match against Michigan State. The Mountaineers will then square off with UL at 11 a.m., followed by a noon tilt against Ball State in No. 7 and No. 8 singles. The Mountaineers will wrap up the second day of the tournament at 3:30 p.m., when they take on Ball State in a singles match.
WVU will compete in a singles match against Michigan State on Sunday to close out the Louisville Tennis Classic. First serve for the Mountaineers and Spartans is slated for 9:30 a.m.
This fall, freshman Giovanna Caputo, senior Lyn Yuen Choo and junior Paula Goetz have each registered six singles wins. The tandem of Caputo and Choo also lead the Mountaineers with a 4-1 record in doubles action. Caputo has picked up seven wins in doubles play with three different teammates this fall, leading the team.
