MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The West Virginia University rowing team will continue its fall season on Saturday, Oct. 21, with a scrimmage against Robert Morris on the Monongahela River in Morgantown.
The two teams will compete in two rounds of exhibition races. The Mountaineers and Colonials will launch for the first round at 9:15 a.m. ET, while the second round, which will take place in front of the WVU Boathouse, will begin at approximately 11:45 a.m.
"Since our first scrimmage two weeks ago we have focused primarily on boat feel and rhythm, which is easy enough to develop during training," coach
Jimmy King said. "In tomorrow's scrimmage, we'll find out how well our crews maintain that feel and rhythm in a racing environment."
In the first round, the Mountaineers and Colonials will compete in pace races using different stroke rates. The two teams will then head back to the WVU Boathouse while competing in separate pieces.
After the first round of scrimmages, the teams will return to the WVU Boathouse for a short break, then launch for the second round at approximately 11:45 a.m.
Fans are encouraged to watch the second round of racing, which will take place in front of the WVU Boathouse.
Up next, the Mountaineers' novice squad heads to Fairfax Station, Virginia, for the Head of the Occoquan on Saturday, Nov. 4. The fall season for both WVU's novice and varsity teams conclude at Duquesne on Saturday, Nov. 11.
