Mountaineers Set for Gold/Blue Scrimmage

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team will make its unofficial 2016 debut on Saturday when the Mountaineers square off against each other in the annual Gold/Blue Scrimmage. The intrasquad match will be held at Morgantown High and is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
Prior to the scrimmage, coach Reed Sunahara and his squad will offer a free clinic. The clinic is open to any and all entrants and will be held from noon to 2 p.m.
Admission to the scrimmage, as well as all WVU home matches this season, is free.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to get out in the community and interact with our fans,” said Sunahara, who enters his second season with the Mountaineers. “We’re hoping for a fun scrimmage to get people excited for the season. Our players have worked hard both this offseason and this preseason, so it will be good to see where we’re at as a team.”
The Mountaineers will be divided into Gold and Blue teams and will play four sets, with the fourth set treated as a regulation fifth set and going only to 15 points. Several players will split time between both sides.
