MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s soccer team unofficially opens the 2016 season with the annual Gold-Blue Intrasquad scrimmage on Friday, August 12, at 7 p.m. ET.
The annual scrimmage will be held at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium and admission is free. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to pick up the official 2016 schedule poster.
Following Friday’s intrasquad, WVU will play three exhibition matches before the regular season begins. The Mountaineers host rival Pitt in the Backyard Brawl on Tuesday, August 16 at 2:30 p.m. in conjunction with
WVU Welcome Week.
After traveling to Loyola (Md.) on Aug. 20, West Virginia concludes its exhibition slate at home against in-state foe Charleston on Tuesday, August 23, at 7 p.m.
The regular season begins with a pair of neutral site contests against two top-15 opponents in Akron, Ohio. On Friday, Aug. 26, WVU faces No. 14 Seattle before taking on No. 10 Georgetown on Aug. 28. The Mountaineers’ home opener is slated for Saturday, Sept. 3 against Princeton at 7 p.m.
