MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Seven members of the West Virginia University track and field team were named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for their performances both in the classroom and in competition announced on Thursday, July 28.
Freshman Danique Bryan, sophomores Amy Cashin, Jillian Forsey and Shamoya McNeil, junior Brianna Kerekes and seniors Savanna Plombon and Hannah Stone added the accolades to their resume.
A total of 910 female student-athletes from 192 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades during the 2015-16 track and field season.
In order to qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the athletic standards.
For the outdoor season, student-athletes must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds). As for the indoor season, student-athletes must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by
TFRRS.org.
Cashin, Forsey, McNeil, Kerekes, Plombon and Stone competed at the NCAA East Outdoor Preliminary Championships in Jacksonville, Florida. Bryan was ranked No. 68 in the long jump during the indoor season.
