MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University volleyball coach Reed Sunahara announced Wednesday that Katelyn Evans (Palmdale, Calif./Highland High) has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the program for the 2016 season.
A 6-foot-1 outside hitter, Evans played for Tina Diaz at Highland High and Noel Cruz and Amy Wilson at Aero. A team captain, she was previously named SoCal Prep Legends Girls Athlete of the Week in addition to earned All-CIF Division III First Team honors. Evans also was a member of the 2015 USA Girls' Youth A1 National Training Team Program.
"Katelyn will be a great addition to our program and gives us another offensive threat at the pin,” said Sunahara, who enters his second season at the helm of the Mountaineers. “She is an athletic player who will help us move in the right direction. Katelyn is a versatile athlete that will give us multiple options offensively and defensively. Her competitive drive will fit the culture in our gym.”
A native of Palmdale, California, Evans is the daughter of Lasondra Minter. She intends to major in exercise science at WVU.
