MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Looking to end a three-game skid, the West Virginia University volleyball team travels to Robert Morris to cap its nonconference schedule on Wednesday. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside the Charles L. Sewall Center in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
The Mountaineers (10-9, 2-4) are coming off back-to-back losses to Big 12 foe Oklahoma at home, while the Colonials (9-12, 3-3 Northeast Conference) swept LIU Brooklyn at home.
“Robert Morris is a solid team,” said WVU coach Reed Sunahara. “They went to the NCAA Tournament in 2015, so it will be a good challenge for us. We need to get better every day, and Wednesday will be a good opportunity.”
West Virginia is 19-5 all-time against Robert Morris, falling to the Colonials by a score of 3-1 in Morgantown last season. They Mountaineers registered a 3-0 sweep in their last trip to Moon Township back in 2014, and are 4-3 on the road against the Colonials. The series dates back 36 years to 1980, with WVU taking a 2-0 win in the inaugural matchup before claiming the next10 meetings as well.
The Mountaineers enter the match with an 8-5 mark in nonconference play and 2-2 on the road this year. They are 221-105 all-time in non-league matches.
