MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Director of Athletics Shane Lyons announced the 2015-16 indoor track and field schedule, highlighted by two home meets at the WVU Shell Building.
The indoor schedule consists of nine regular season meets, along with the Big 12 and NCAA championship meets.
“We’re excited about the upcoming indoor season,” said coach Sean Cleary. “The schedule has been designed to give our team the best opportunities in the best facilities to achieve their individual and team goals.”
The Mountaineers host two home meets in the WVU Shell Building, starting with the WVU Intersquad meet on Saturday, Dec 4, at 4:30 p.m. The second home meet is the Marty Pushkin Classic on Saturday, Jan. 23. WVU hosted the event last year and in 2013.
The regular season begins when the Mountaineers travel to University Park, Pennsylvania, to compete at the Nittany Lion Challenge, on Jan. 16. This is the first of three events that the Mountaineers will travel to Penn State to compete in 2016.
The schedule also features a visit to in-state rival Marshall. WVU travels to Huntington to compete at the Marshall Invitational from Feb. 12-13.
Iowa State hosts the Big 12 Indoor Championship in Ames, Iowa, from Feb. 26-27. The indoor season concludes with the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, on March 11-12.
Eleven newcomers join the 2015-16 WVU track and field squad, while 29 upperclassmen return.
