MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University senior Clara Grandt has been named BIG EAST Cross Country Runner of the Week for her efforts last weekend at the Midwest Open in Kenosha, Wis., announced today by the conference office.
Grandt, a West Union, W.Va., native, crossed the line in 17:00.1, 19 seconds before Louisville's Tarah McKay (17:19.4), for the fastest course time in over 20 years.
As a team, the Mountaineers tied BIG EAST foe Louisville for first-place with 43 team points. Marquette, Hillsdale and North Dakota State rounded out the top 5.
WVU is set to return to action on Oct. 2, with the Paul Short Invite in Bethlehem, Pa.
