MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team is ranked No. 4 nationally in the first poll released today by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
"As expected, the rankings are virtually the same as last year's national championship finish," coach Sean Cleary says. "This exemplifies that all of the returning top teams are as strong as or stronger than they were last year."
Defending champion Washington is ranked No. 1, followed by Oregon and Florida State. West Virginia is followed by Villanova, Stanford, Princeton, Minnesota, Georgetown and Illinois who round out the top 10.
WVU was ranked No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic Region poll that was released yesterday.
