STILLWATER, Okla. -- Former West Virginia University wrestling assistant coach Nate Carr has been inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in Stillwater, Okla.
Carr won three NCAA titles at Iowa State and won a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympics in addition to winning the World Cup and Pan-American championships. In 1990, he was a member of the World Championship team and captured the title at the Goodwill Games.
After his competitive career, Carr moved on as an assistant coach at WVU where he spent 13 seasons. During his tenure, WVU had two national champions, 10 All-Americans, won two Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) dual-meet crowns (1990-91) and one EWL tournament title (1996) and sent 64 wrestlers to the NCAA tournament. He was named national assistant coach of the year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association in 1991.
In 2003, he was inducted into the EWL hall of fame for his contributions at West Virginia.
Carr currently resides in Gray, Ga., where he works at the New Life Community Baptist Church, which he co-founded.
