Nathaniel Zinn joined the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in 2005 and has been serving his current role as Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing since July 2014.
Zinn is responsible for the marketing, promotion and in-game entertainment of WVU’s ticketed varsity sports, primarily football and men’s basketball. He also has been very instrumental and active in the department's social media campaigns since helping to launch the official team accounts more than a decade ago. During his tenure, he has created and coordinated numerous marketing campaigns such as the official WVU Athletics' hashtag '#HailWV', the slogan 'Cue Country Roads', the WVU football 125-year celebration, the Coliseum 50-year anniversary, women's basketball 'Education Day' and developed the concept for the special alternate Country Roads football uniform in 2022.
Zinn previously served as Director of Athletics Marketing from 2012-14 and Assistant Director of Athletics Marketing Director from 2008-12. Prior to becoming Assistant Sports Marketing Director, Zinn worked in the WVU Athletics Communications office as a graduate assistant from 2006-08. During that stint, he handled media relations for the WVU baseball, gymnastics, track & field and women’s soccer teams. A former Mountaineer walk-on football player from 2003-04, Zinn also was a student assistant in 2005-06 in the WVU Athletics Communications office.
The Clarksburg, W.Va., native graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism (2006) and a master’s degree in sport management (2008).
Zinn is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators, which has recognized the WVU Athletics Marketing office with several awards since 2008. He resides in Morgantown with his wife Keli.
