Dr. Whitney Shakuri-Rad works for Student-Athlete Development as an instructional assistant specializing in helping Mountaineer football players with their time management, organizational, and academic skills. She is also responsible for monitoring their academic progress and making sure they stay on track to graduate.
Shakuri-Rad has been in her current role since August 2018.
Prior to WVU, she spent three years as an English teacher at Valleywood Middle School in Kentwood, Michigan. She also has teaching experience at Jackson Middle School in Vienna, West Virginia, Greenbrier West High in Charmco, West Virginia and Clay-Battelle High in Blacksville, West Virginia.
From 2013-15, she was an instructor for Wired Learning at Marshall University and served as a co-instructor for master’s online courses in elementary education and multicultural and diversity issues while working toward her doctorate in curriculum and instruction.
She received her bachelor’s degree from WVU in English and women’s studies in 2006, her master’s degree from WVU in secondary education in 2008, and her doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Marshall in 2018.
Shakuri-Rad currently resides in Morgantown with her husband, Jaschar, and their two children, Cyrus and Darius.
