Chella LaMere joined the Mountaineer athletics staff as the Assistant Director of Nutrition for Olympic Sports in July 2023.
In this role, LaMere will assist in developing and overseeing the nutritional needs for WVU’s Olympic sports student-athletes. She counsels individuals and groups on daily nutrition for performance and health and researches the most recent scientific evidence and turns it into practical sports nutrition recommendations, tracking and documenting the outcomes of nutrition services. She serves as a food and nutrition resource for Mountaineer student-athletes, providing education and maintaining professional competency and skills required for practice.
Most recently, she worked at A4 Health in Twin Cities, Minnesota, as a nutrition resource manager where she worked with the Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks, Division I and elite high school athletes on their nutritional planning.
Her professional experience also includes a sports dietetic internship with the Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Timberwolves at A4 Health and a graduate teaching position for the Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences at North Dakota State University. Before then, she worked as a sports nutrition intern at Training HAUS in Viking Lakes and at North Dakota State University.
At a recent Collegiate & Professional Sports Dietitian Conference (CPSDA) event, she successfully shared her 110-page solo thesis research regarding the interventional, single-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized investigation study.
LaMere earned a bachelor’s degree with highest honors in dietetics and a master’s degree in nutrition & exercise science, both from North Dakota State. During her time there, she received the top dietetic student award and served as president of the student-led dietetic organization on campus.
The Minnesota native currently resides in Morgantown.
