Thompson will work toward securing high-end annual gifts and funds for major capital projects, as well as endowing student-athlete scholarships.
Thompson joins the MAC after spending the last two years with Arkansas State’s Red Wolves Foundation as a development coordinator. In that position, he oversaw the execution for athletics’ donors game-day operations (parking and tailgating hospitality) and contributed to the selling of new and current premium seating at Centennial Bank Stadium and First National Bank Arena. Through the selling of new Loge Box stadium premium seating, he secured more than $500,000 in contributions towards the North Endzone Expansion project. Thompson also initiated and organized Call of the Pack: Days of Giving Campaign, which successfully raised more than $100,000 over a two-day period in its inaugural year. He also executed the first annual Red Wolves Foundation Silent Auction, coordinated the A-State Student-Athlete Thank-a-Thon, and oversaw the web design and complete rebranding of the Red Wolves Foundation. Thompson also assisted in the solicitation outreach efforts for Red Wolves Foundation annual fund gifts and membership renewals.
Prior to his time at Arkansas State, Thompson spent a year as a full-time intern with Temple Athletics’ Owl Club. While in Philadelphia, he assisted in the day-to-day operations of the development office, coordinating and implementing special events for the athletics department, as well as soliciting strategies for the Owl Club Annual Fund.
While at the University of Michigan, Thompson served as a two-year research assistant for Dr. Mark S. Rosentraub with the Center for Sport & Policy (2012-14), conducting research analysis and feasibility studies for professional sports stadium development projects, including ancillary opportunities and market research with the Green Bay Packers’ Titletown project. Thompson also spent one year as the football program’s recruiting and operations intern for the Associate Athletic Director (2012-13).
Thompson received his bachelor’s degree in sports management in 2012 from West Virginia University and his master’s in sport management and a graduate certificate in real estate development in 2014 from the University of Michigan. A Mount Laurel, New Jersey, native, Thompson resides in Morgantown with his wife Jenna, also a WVU graduate, and son Cole.
