Jake Ryan joined the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in November 2023, and currently serves as director of creative video. In this role, he is responsible for the creation and the development of WVU’s digital initiatives on social media and the web.
He has helped capture moments of three WVU baseball super regional runs, including a trip to the 2026 College World Series. Ryan also leads creative strategy for WVU volleyball.
Ryan comes to WVU following a one-year stint at the University of Louisiana where he served as its assistant director of creative video. While in Lafayette, he was responsible for creating video content for the Ragin’ Cajuns volleyball, women’s basketball and baseball programs. He also assisted with football, men’s basketball and softball.
Ryan’s professional experience also includes a one-year stint at Gardner-Webb University where he served as its baseball media director in charge of content creation and social media management.
The Smithfield, Virginia, native earned a baseball scholarship at George Mason University before completing his bachelor’s degree in mass communication at Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina, in 2021.
He resides in Morgantown.
