Kayla Hussey is in her third season working as a student mental performance consultant for the WVU Rowing program.
A native of Ashland, Kentucky, Hussey provides individual and team sessions, focusing on enhancing the mental performance aspect of student-athlete performance.
Hussey also has worked as a master’s level therapist trainee at WVU's Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services since August 2023. Previously, she was a graduate teaching assistant at WVU for sport and exercise psychology undergraduate instructors.
Prior to WVU, she was an undergraduate instructor for the physical fitness and wellness program at Ball State, while also serving as a graduate research assistant.
Hussey is a doctoral student at West Virginia in the sport, exercise and performance psychology program and master’s student in the clinical mental health counseling program. She completed a previous master’s degree in sport and exercise psychology from Ball State in 2021.
A member of the women’s basketball team, Hussey earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and history from Pikeville College in 2016.
