Carly Slater joined the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in 2017 as assistant director of athletics marketing and has since been promoted to associate director.

Slater is responsible for the marketing, promotion and in-game entertainment for both the women’s soccer and women’s basketball programs. She also oversees the marketing efforts for both the men’s soccer and gymnastics teams. Additionally, Slater produces and directs ticket marketing campaigns for assigned sports, including season ticket, single-game ticket and group ticket sales. She also coordinates and promotes the Mountaineer Kids Club through email campaigns and promotional events.

Slater previously held the position of assistant director of marketing and fan engagement at Duquesne University from 2016-17, where she developed and executed marketing and attendance plans for the women’s soccer and women’s basketball teams, as well as the volleyball and lacrosse programs. Additionally, Slater enhanced the game day atmosphere as well as the fan experience at both the men’s and women’s basketball games.

Prior to her position at Duquesne, Slater served as the athletics marketing graduate assistant at Northern Illinois University from 2015-16. As a graduate assistant, Slater developed and executed marketing and promotional plans for volleyball, wrestling and softball. She also created marketing and ticket sales plan for the MAC Volleyball Tournament, hosted by NIU.

Slater previously worked in the WVU Athletic Marketing Office as a student intern and assisted with pre-game preparation, in-game promotions and editing scripts. She also supervised and led a team of eight interns to ensure all promotion events were executed efficiently.
The Wheeling, West Virginia, native graduated from West Virginia in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management with a minor in business administration and communications studies. She then obtained her master’s degree in sport management from Northern Illinois University in 2016.
