Amy Salvatore joined the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in the fall of 2017, where she serves as the assistant director of athletics communications.
Salvatore is the primary media contact for the WVU volleyball, gymnastics and rifle. Additionally, she supports the communication efforts for the WVU football team and collaborates with the office staff on projects that promote and develop West Virginia’s student-athletes.
Prior to her current role, Salvatore had a one-year stint as the strategic communications assistant at Virginia Tech (2016-17).
At Virginia Tech, she served as the primary media contact for the 12-time ACC champion track and field programs, as well as the nationally-ranked women’s soccer and women’s tennis teams. She also supported the communication efforts for the nationally-ranked football program.
Salvatore previously worked in the WVU Athletic Communications Office as a graduate assistant from 2014-16 and served as the co-primary media contact for the 18-time NCAA champion rifle program, as well as the main contact for the women’s tennis and rowing squads and secondary contact for the nationally-ranked women’s basketball team. She also helped with weekly and gameday operations for the nationally-ranked men’s basketball and football programs.
The Seven Hills, Ohio, native graduated from Shawnee State University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management and a minor in communications. She then obtained her master’s degree in sport management from West Virginia University in 2016.
