Lenzie Newman serves as the primary athletic trainer for men’s and women’s swimming and diving after joining West Virginia University Athletics in May 2024. Her current role includes the day-to-day care, rehabilitation and injury prevention for student-athletes in those specific sports.
Newman comes to WVU from Tennessee-Chattanooga where she recently completed her master’s degree in athletic training. While there, she worked primarily with the Mocs’ football program while also assisting with other sports. Her post-graduate work experience included an internship with USA Boxing at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and as an immersion student at Virginia Tech working with the Hokies’ softball and women’s lacrosse teams.
Newman completed her bachelor of science degree in athletic training and rehabilitation services at Kansas State University in 2022.
She owns several certifications and memberships including SafeSport certified, American Heart Association BLS CPR/AED certified and Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative Research Training.
The Benton, Arkansas, native resides in Morgantown.
