Ethan Solger is the Assistant Athletic Director/Head Athletic Trainer forf Olympic Sports working primarily with Mountaineer men’s soccer. Solger assumed his duties at WVU in August 2021.
Previously, Solger was the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer at Youngstown State University for four years. In his role there, he directed the efforts of the sports medicine department while working as the head athletic trainer for the Penguin football team. His primary responsibilities included year-round preventive care, immediate care for injured athletes at practices and games, and the rehabilitation of injured athletes along with managing the entire sports medicine department YSU.
In 2014, he was an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Tulane University where he worked with the football program for three seasons before assuming his duties at YSU.
Prior to Tulane, he spent two seasons at Nebraska as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. During his two seasons with the Huskers, Solger assisted with all aspects of the athletic medicine program with the football team. Solger also spent the 2011 season as an athletic training student at the University of Florida working with the Gators' football program.
A Florida native, Solger graduated from Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training in 2012. He also graduated from Nebraska with a master of education degree in educational administration in 2014.
Solger is certified in Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization(IASTM), RockTape Fascial Taping/Cupping, Dry Needling and IV Therapy Administration. He is also a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
Solger, his wife Michelle, daughter, Addison, and son, Brooks, reside in Morgantown.
