Box Score MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (3-0, 0-0 Big 12) closed out the Quest for the Crown tournament in Norfolk, Virginia with a 3-2 victory over Fairfield on Saturday afternoon.
After dropping the first two sets (25-27, 22-25), the Mountaineers rallied to win the final three in dramatic fashion, 28-26, 28-26, and 15-13.
WVU had five players record double-digit kills. Junior outside hitter
Nina Horning led the way with 15 kills on an impressive .375 hitting percentage, followed by junior middle blocker
Maddy McGath with 14. Freshman setter
Sarah Pfiffner dished out a match-high 36 assists.

Alexis Finnvold and senior libero
LonDynn Betts anchored the back row with 15 and 14 digs, respectively, finishing first and second among all players. Finnvold also tallied 25 assists, securing her seventh career double-double. At the net, the Mountaineers totaled 13 blocks, led by McGath with six. Freshman right side

With the win, WVU completes the Quest for the Crown unbeaten and will now turn its attention to the West Virginia Invitational, hosted in Morgantown, West Virginia from Thursday, Sept. 4 through Saturday, Sept. 6. The Mountaineers will welcome North Dakota, Liberty, and Coppin State for the three-day event.
