MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the 2025-26 schedule for the West Virginia University men's and women's swimming and diving teams.
Head coach
Brent MacDonald begins his second season in Morgantown, having been named to lead the program in May 2024.
Last season, the men's swimming and diving team finished 1-4 overall and placed seventh at the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships. The women's swimming and diving team finished 1-5 overall and placed ninth at the Big 12 Championships.
The 2025-26 season begins with the Florida State University Invitational in Tallahassee, Florida, from Sept. 26-27. The Mountaineers return home to host the West Virginia State Games on Oct. 4, at The Peak Health Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
Normally a two-day event, the event has been shortened to one day this season. The men's team won last season, and the women's team finished second behind Marshall.
The women's swimming and diving team will face Marshall on Oct. 10 in Huntington, W.Va., before both teams hit the road to face Delaware on Oct. 18. Delaware is coached by former WVU swimmer Pablo Marmolejo, who was an NCAA All-American and three-time Big East champion while with the Mountaineers.
West Virginia will host an Alumni Meet on Oct. 24, as all alumni of the WVU swimming and diving program are encouraged to attend.
WVU takes on Loyola (Md.) on Nov. 2 for its first home dual meet of the year, before hosting the WVU Invitational from Nov. 20-22.
The Backyard Brawl returns to Morgantown for the first time since 2024 as West Virginia faces Pitt on Jan. 10. West Virginia will travel to Houston, Texas, to compete in the Big 12 East Showdown from Jan. 16-17.
Senior day will take place on Jan. 24 as the Mountaineers face Villanova and Duquesne (women's only). West Virginia completes the regular season as Penn State comes to Morgantown on Jan. 30. The diving team will also compete in the Virginia Tech Diving Invitational from Feb. 6-8, in Blacksburg, Virginia.
The 2026 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships are slated for Feb. 24-28, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
