MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – West Virginia Athletics and Mountaineer Sports Properties announced today the addition of Swilled Dog to the Mountaineer family, naming the West Virginia-owned craft distiller as the "Official Bourbon of WVU Athletics" in a multi-year partnership.
Founded and owned by proud WVU alumnus Brooke Glover, Swilled Dog is deeply connected in the state and university, and embodies the values of Mountaineer grit, resilience and pride.
"Swilled Dog's local roots, purpose and passion make it a highly respected brand not only within the Mountaineer fanbase but all across our great state," said
Wren Baker, WVU Vice President and Director of Athletics. "Brooke Glover and Swilled Dog are great representatives of this University and locally owned businesses in West Virginia, and I can't think of a better partner to become our first in the spirits category."
Swilled Dog is an award-winning distillery based in nearby Upper Tract, West Virginia. In addition to being named the 2024 DISCUS Craft Distiller of the Year, their bourbons and spirits continue to win top honors on both national and international stages.
Glover and Swilled Dog also show a high level of commitment to philanthropic giving, supporting animal shelters, rescue flights, and community causes. Their work in West Virginia communities solidifies philanthropy as a core part of their business and aligns them with WVU's land-grant mission to uplift communities through meaningful impact.
"As a West Virginia alumnus and business owner that distills and produces award-winning craft spirits in West Virginia, I'm beyond proud to see Swilled Dog align so closely with Mountaineer Athletics," stated Glover. "Every bottle we produce tells a story of West Virginia craftsmanship, passion and excellence, and we're ecstatic to share that story with Mountaineers across the nation."
Swilled Dog operates a 20,000-square foot distillery in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia and has retail partners that offer and ship to 45 states across the country, offering the ability to put the WVU Athletics and Swilled Dog brands into the hands of fans and alumni from coast to coast.
In addition to their official partner designation and status as a Gold and Blue partner of the Mountaineers, Swilled Dog will also benefit from radio advertisements during WVU Athletics broadcasts, digital and static in-venue signage at Mountaineer sporting events, targeted digital ad campaigns through Learfield's Fan365 offering, and use of intellectual property including WVU Athletics logos and marks.
"Brooke's success as WVU alumnus, local business owner and award-winning distiller make her and Swilled Dog an ideal brand partner and we couldn't be happier to name them the Official Bourbon of WVU Athletics," added
Evan Hawkins, General Manager of Mountaineer Sports Properties. "WVU Athletics and Swilled Dog together make a perfect brand fit, and I can't wait to see the full potential of our partnership as we work to deliver these two great brands from the Mountaineer State to WVU fans everywhere."
With the launch of their partnership, Swilled Dog will release licensed, co-branded bottles of their craft bourbon featuring WVU logos and marks beginning in August. Swilled Dog products and merchandise are available for purchase online at
