
63 Mountaineers Recognized on Fall Academic All-Big 12 Team

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A total of 63 student-athletes from West Virginia University have been named to the 2025 Fall Academic All-Big 12 Conference Teams, the league announced on Thursday.
The fall team recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at conference institutions who participate in fall sports, including cross country, football, women's soccer and volleyball at WVU. West Virginia placed 11 student-athletes on the team with a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester.
Kansas led all 16 member institutions on the Fall Academic Team with 92 selections and had the highest amount of all football programs with 51 honorees. BYU and Oklahoma State tied for the most student-athletes in men's cross country with 13 selections each, while the Cowgirls posted 17 honorees on the women's side of the sport.
Baylor soccer's 18 nominees were the most in the sport, while Arizona State rounded out the team leaders with 13 selections in volleyball.
To qualify for the Fall Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or higher, either cumulative or over the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 20% of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen are not eligible, while transfers in their first year of academic residence are eligible. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Additionally, 5,110 students were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, which features student-athletes from all Big 12-sponsored and non-sponsored sports who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher. Overall, 70% of Big 12 student-athletes were recognized on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
