
Six Mountaineers Qualify for NCAA East First Rounds

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Six members of the West Virginia University track and field team qualified to compete at the NCAA East First Rounds, hosted by North Florida on May 28-31 at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.
West Virginia will send sophomore Kishay Rowe to compete in the 800 meters, while graduate student Sarah Tait has qualified for the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Redshirt junior Emily Bryce and freshman Naomi Kemboi will both race in the 5,000 meters.
Additionally, freshman Joy Naukot qualified for the 10,000 meters while redshirt sophomore Annishka McDonald was selected to compete in the high jump.
Tait returns to the NCAA East First Round as the team's sole veteran, after winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase title at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships on May 16. She ranks No. 7 nationally in the event, as well as No. 4 in the East.
Naukot ranks No. 3 in the East, and No. 8 nationally in the 10,000 meters after clinching the Big 12 title in the event on May 15.
In the 5,000 meters, Kemboi ranks No. 11 while Bryce checks in at No. 36 in the East, respectfully. Additionally, McDonald is tied for No. 16 in the East high jump.
