MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team completed competition at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships on Saturday evening, at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas.
West Virginia finished the conference championship in 13
th place, earning 28.5 total team points.
Redshirt sophomore
Annishka McDonald cleared 1.78 meters in the women's high jump, tying her personal best. McDonald took fifth place with the mark, earning 3.5 points for the Mountaineers.
In the 5,000 meters, freshman
Naomi Kemboi finished sixth overall, with a time of 15:52.10. Redshirt junior
Emily Bryce followed behind in seventh place, finishing in 15:53.11. Collectively, the pair added five points for the Mountaineers.
Additionally, sophomore Alexis Lamb placed 11th in the 5,000 meters while redshirt junior Tatiana Mourna finished 32
nd.
West Virginia leaves the state of Kansas with two Big 12 Champions in freshman

Sarah Tait. Naukot earned the 10,000-meter conference title on Thursday night, with a time of 33:30.84. While Tait notched a meet record time of 9:44.72 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, taking the Big 12 title on Friday.
Next, WVU will head to the NCAA East Preliminary Round on May 28-31. This year's first round will be hosted by North Florida and will be held at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The Mountaineers look to send Bryce (5,000 meters), Kemboi (5,000 meters), McDonald (high jump), Naukot (10,000 meters), sophomore
Kishay Rowe (800 meters), and Tait (3,000-meter steeplechase) to compete in Jacksonville.
