
Lake, Wisman Top Air Rifle Podium at USA Shooting Junior Olympic

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Griffin Lake of the West Virginia University rifle team collected a first-place finish at the 2025 USA Shooting Junior Olympics in air rifle on Tuesday evening. WVU teammate Jacob Wisman also finished on the podium in second place.
With the result, Lake earned the necessary quota has been named a member of Team USA for the Junior Pan American Games in Asuncion, Paraguay. The event is scheduled for August 9-25.
Lake scored 250.0 in the final to finish in first place while Wisman hit a mark of 247.4. The pair claimed the top two spots in a field of 93 competitors.
In qualifying, Lake turned in the second-highest two-day total of 1,255.2 with an opening-day mark of 629.0 and a second-day total of 626.2. Wisman scored the fourth-highest qualifying mark at the event with a 1,246.8. He hits relay scores of 623.5 and 623.3.
Incoming freshman Jack Ogoreuc finished in second place in the U18 division at the event. He scored 1,233.3 with relay marks of 616.4 and 616.9.
On the women's side, Camryn Camp (26th) and Ashlyn Blake (37th) also competed and hit marks of 1,240.2 and 1,238.0, respectively.
Smallbore competition at the USA Shooting Junior Olympics is set to take place from Wednesday to Friday, April 16-18 with the finals set to take place on Friday afternoon.
