MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women's basketball head coach Mark Kellogg has announced the addition of Riley Makalusky (Fishers, Ind. / Butler) to a grant-in-aid for the 2025-26 academic year.
"Riley is a fantastic addition to our women's basketball program," Kellogg said. " She is a versatile forward that can impact the game in multiple ways"
"She will stretch a defense with her ability to shoot the basketball, but she also can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. Riley led the Big East in 3 point shooting her freshman season. She brings a dimension to our team that we haven't had recently. We are excited to welcome Riley to Morgantown and ready to watch her develop."
The 6-foot-2 forward from Fishers, Indiana has played two seasons of collegiate basketball with two seasons of eligibility left after beginning her career at Butler. Riley was selected to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team and led the BIG EAST Conference in 3-point field goal percentage (46.1%) as a freshman.
Makalusky has netted 474 points, 160 rebounds and 66 assists in two seasons. She has played in 64 career contests, making 37 starts, while recording 1,455 minutes played. From the floor, Riley shoots at 40.3 percent and adds a 38.0 mark from beyond the arc.
Last season, Riley played in 32 games while making 23 starts. She averaged 8.1 points and 2.8 rebounds while playing 24.5 minutes per game. She scored in double-figures 13 times and produced a season-high 16 points against Georgetown.
During her freshman season, she played in 32 games, starting 14 games while averaging 6.7 points and 2.2 rebounds. Riley played 20.9 minutes per game and finished her first season with a 44.1 percent field goal percentage. Additionally, she made 36-of-77 three-point attempts.
Riley was named an Indiana All-Star during her junior and senior years of high school. She scored 1,067 points at Hamilton Southeastern playing for head coach Brian Satterfield. There she averaged 17.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game,
Riley intends to major in marketing while at West Virginia University. She is the daughter of Mike and Jenn Makalusky, and she has one sister, named Maya.
