MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After shattering West Virginia's 10,000-meter record,
Joy Naukot of the West Virginia University track and field team has been named Student-Athlete of the Week presented by University Apartments.
The freshman claimed West Virginia's 10,000-meter record with a time of 32:21.84, while crossing the finish line in second place at the Raleigh Relays on March 28 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Naukot's time broke a record that has stood since 2009, and she now ranks No. 1 in the Big 12 conference and Mid-Atlantic Region and No. 2 nationally in the event.
The Mountaineers will return to the road on April 4-5 for the Dalton Ebanks Invitational. The meet will be hosted by George Mason and will be held at the George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Virginia.

This Week in Gymnastics: West Virginia prepares to open competition at the 2025 NCAA Pennsylvania Regional in University Park, Pa., from April 2-5 ... This Week in Rowing: West Virginia will return to action at the George Washington Invitational April 12-13, in Washington D.C., at the Thompson Boat Center.
Last Week in Rowing: West Virginia opened its season, competing with split squads last weekend. All four boats at the Sarasota 2K advanced from the heats on Friday to the third finals on Saturday, resulting in the 2V4 placing third, the 1V4 securing fourth, the 2V8 coming in at fourth and the 1V8 earning fourth. WVU's 3V4 squared off against Robert Morris, defeating them by nearly six seconds, and the 3V8 raced closely with RMU's A and B boats, resulting in a second-place finish.
This Week in Golf: This week in Golf: The Mountaineers will return to competition on April 14-15 for the Mountaineer Invitational which will be held at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
