MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three members of the West Virginia University gymnastics team have been named to the 2025 All-Big 12 Conference Gymnastics Teams, the league announced on Wednesday.
 
Senior Anna Leigh was honored on the Floor Exercise Team, while freshmen Karleigh DiCello and Emerson Smith were recognized on the All-Freshman Team. The awards mark the first all-conference honor for a Mountaineer gymnast since Kendra Combs was named to the All-Big 12 All-Around Team in 2022. Additionally, the trio mark the first time West Virginia has had multiple gymnasts named to the All-Big 12 Teams in the same season in program history.
 
Also of note, Leigh is the first gymnast in program history to be recognized on the All-Big 12 Floor Exercise Team, while DiCello and Smith are part of the inaugural All-Freshman Team this year.
 
A native of St. Michael, Minnesota, Leigh earns the recognition with a 9.905 National Qualifying Score (NQS) on floor, ranking No. 4 in the conference on the event. Leigh returned to the floor exercise lineup this season for the first time since her sophomore year in 2023 after recovering from an injury sustained at the end of the 2023 season.
 
Leigh reached a career-best 9.95 on floor at Central Michigan on Jan. 12, besting her previous career high of 9.925, which she earned as a freshman in 2022. To reach the score, she earned a perfect 10.0 from one judge and a 9.9 from the other for an impressive 9.95. Throughout the season, Leigh has posted a 9.9 or higher on floor five times. She also has earned nine podium finishes on floor this season, including four event wins.
 
DiCello and Smith received All-Freshman Team honors by a vote of Big 12 coaches, and DiCello was a unanimous selection. Of note, coaches were not permitted to vote for their own athletes.
 
A native of Boyds, Maryland, DiCello has been a consistent member of WVU's vault and balance beam lineups this season. She has tallied career highs of 9.9 on vault and 9.925 on beam, posting six event wins across the two events this season. She ranks No. 10 in the Big 12 on vault with an NQS of 9.84 and No. 19 on beam with a 9.825 NQS.
 
Smith hails from Westerville, Ohio, and has made a name for herself in the Mountaineers' vault and floor lineups this season. She reached a career-best 9.925 on floor on March 9, marking her first career score of 9.9 or higher. She also boasts a career high of 9.825 on vault. She ranks No. 16 in the Big 12 on floor, while she also is No. 28 on vault.
 
The All-Big 12 Team is named and released the Wednesday prior to the Big 12 Championship, based on individuals' NQS. New in 2025, the all-conference team consists of the top six student-athletes on vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise, as well as the top six all-around competitors.
 
West Virginia now looks ahead to the 2025 Big 12 Gymnastics Championship, scheduled for Saturday, March 22, at the Maverick Center in West Valley City, Utah. The championship will consist of two sessions and seeding was determined based on teams' National Qualifying Scores (NQS) on Road to Nationals. No. 6-seed WVU will compete in the afternoon session, beginning at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN+, against No. 5 BYU and No. 7 Iowa State.
