
West Virginia Falls on Road to No. 10 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas. – The No. 17-ranked West Virginia University women's basketball team fell on the road to No. 10 TCU, 71-50, on Sunday at Schollmaier Arena in Forth Worth.
The Mountaineers fell behind by 19 points at halftime following a slow start and were never able to recover. WVU finished the contest 18 of 59 from the floor as TCU finished the game shooting 49.1 percent from the field.
Senior guard JJ Quinerly finished with 13 points as junior guard Jordan Harrison added 11 points and added five assists and five rebounds. Senior Kyah Watson added three rebounds to her career total to surpass the 750 mark.
West Virginia struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the first half, shooting just 33.3 percent from the floor, with three Mountaineers finishing with four points. TCU finished the opening 20 minutes shooting 53.3 percent from the floor to lead 39-20.
WVU outscored the Horned Frogs 18-15 in the third before TCU tacked on a 17-point fourth quarter to hand the Mountaineers its sixth loss of the season.
West Virginia is 23-6 all-time against the Horned Frogs, including a 9-4 mark when playing inside Schollmaier Arena. The loss snaps the Mountaineers nine game win streak in the series.
West Virginia returns home to Morgantown on Wednesday, Feb. 26, to play host to Utah inside the WVU Coliseum. The contest will serve as a Coal Rush as fans are encouraged to wear black. Tipoff for the contest is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
