WACO, Texas – The No. 18-ranked West Virginia University women's basketball team fell on the road to No. 25 Baylor 75-65 on Tuesday night inside Foster Pavilion in Waco.
 
The Mountaineers were never able to find a rhythm on the offensive end, shooting just 37% from the floor on 23-of-63 shooting. West Virginia also forced just 16 Bear turnovers in the game, the second fewest this season and converted those mistakes into 12 points.
 
Junior guard Jordan Harrison finished with a team-high 20 points before fouling out midway through the fourth quarter. She added four steals, four assists and four rebounds. Senior guard JJ Quinerly finished with 17 points and was the only other Mountaineer to reach double figures.
 
Senior guard Kyah Watson grabbed nine of West Virginia's 33 rebounds in the game and added six steals.
 
After a back-and-forth opening quarter, featuring five lead changes and a tie, Baylor took a slight 19-16 advantage at the end of the opening 10 minutes. The Bears outscored WVU 17-10 in the second to take its largest lead of 10 points, 36-26, at halftime.
 
Baylor did its damage from beyond the arc in the half, knocking down six of its attempts while WVU connected on just 1 of 11 from deep. The Mountaineers pressured Baylor into eight turnovers in the opening half, and Harrison led all scorers with 12 points.
 
West Virginia trimmed its deficit to single digits multiple times in the third and fourth quarters but failed to get over the hump. WVU cut the Baylor lead to as few as seven points in the third quarter but was as close as the Mountaineers got to taking a lead.
 
West Virginia is now 5-25 all-time against Baylor, including a 2-12 mark when playing on the road inside Foster Pavilion. The Mountaineers fall to 1-2 when taking on AP ranked opponents this season.
 
West Virginia now returns home on Saturday when they welcome Cincinnati to the WVU Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. ET and will serve as senior day for six Mountaineers.
