
West Virginia and Temple Meet for Second Straight Season on Tuesday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's basketball team is set to continue nonconference action on Tuesday, Nov. 11, as the Mountaineers welcome Temple to Hope Coliseum in Morgantown. The contest is the Mountaineers' third straight at home to open the season.
Tipoff against the Owls is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, and gates open at 6 p.m. Tuesday's contest will be broadcast live on the Mountaineer Sports Network, including 100.9 FM, with Andrew Caridi on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on the Varsity Network App.
Additionally, the game will be broadcast on ESPN+, with Alex Wiederspiel and Meg Bulger on the call. Live stats and game notes are available on WVUsports.com.
Tickets can be purchased at WVUGAME.com or by visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located inside the Gold Gate of the WVU Coliseum. The contest will be Military Appreciation Night, as well as a canned food drive. Join the Women's Basketball team as we honor Veterans and military personnel in a celebration of Veterans' Day. Fans are also encouraged to bring canned goods, with all canned food items being donated to the Rack.
West Virginia (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) and Temple (2-0, 0-0 AAC) meet for the 33rd time in program history. West Virginia is 26-6 all-time against Temple, including a 14-4 mark at home. The pair met 30 times from 1981-1995 when the two were a part of the Atlantic 10 conference. The latest meeting came during the 2024 season when WVU defeated the Owls, 68-46, on the road.
Of note, the Mountaineers have not lost at home vs. a non-Power 5 opponent since Dec. 20, 2012, vs. Duquesne. WVU is riding a 19-game home win streak, now spanning three seasons. Additionally, the Mountaineers have won 37 straight non-conference regular season contests inside the WVU Coliseum dating back to the 2018-19 season.
The Mountaineers are 85.5 points to open the season and allow just 47 points per game. Both marks are the fourth best among Big 12 Conference programs. Additionally, WVU is forcing its opponents into 31.5 turnovers, the 8th best nationally, and corralling 17.5 steals a game, the 15th best mark in the nation.
West Virginia has forced 30+ turnovers and 15+ steals in each of their first two games this season. WVU ranks 15th in the nation with a +15-turnover margin.
Temple has opened the season with wins over George Mason and George Washington. The Owls are led by Tristen Taylor with 15 points per game and are joined in double figures by four more Owls. Saniyah Craig averages a double-double with 13.5 rebounds and 11 points.
