MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's swimming and diving team faces Marshall on Oct. 10, at 5 p.m. at the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium in Huntington, West Virginia.
Last time out, the Mountaineers placed first at the West Virginia State Games, winning by a landslide with 1,609 points.
West Virginia had impressive performances across the board as they won every event. Sophomore
MJ Gilligan continued her strong start to the season, winning the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.35) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:10.61).
Junior
Maddie Smutny also swam well, as she won the 100-yard butterfly (57.69) and the 100-yard freestyle (53.30).
The last two times West Virginia has faced Marshall, it has been at the WV State Games. Marshall did not compete at the state games this year but won the event in 2023 and 2024.
