
Rifle Set for Home Opener Against Mount Aloysius

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 1-ranked West Virginia University rifle team (5-0, 1-0 GARC) is set for its home opener this weekend after beginning the season with five straight road matches. The match against Mount Aloysius is set to begin at 9 a.m. ET at the Bill McKenzie Mobile Rifle Range inside the WVU Shell Building.
West Virginia is 2-0 all-time against Mount Aloysius, including beating the Mounties 4724-4425 earlier this season in a neutral site matchup. The Mountaineers have won 31 straight regular season matches, dating back to the beginning of the 2024-25 season.
WVU's 2394 in air rifle earlier this season tied the all-time NCAA mark and set a new program record. The Mountaineers' 2386.3 average in air rifle lead the nation. The squads aggregate average of 4737.6 is third and the 2351.3 in smallbore sits fourth.
Griffin Lake is leading the nation in scoring average in air rifle so far this season with a 599. He averages a 1190.3 aggregate mark with averages of 591.3 in smallbore. The scores are the fourth and fifth best in the country.
