MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's tennis team lost to Xavier, 6-1, on Saturday at MSU Tennis Center in East Lansing, Michigan.
West Virginia (2-1) struggled from the start as it was unable to earn the doubles point. The pairing of senior
Mille Haagensen and freshman
Lyla Byers won the No. 1 seed match, 6-1, but the Mountaineers lost the other two matches.
In singles play, the Mountaineers only won one match. Senior
Michaela Kucharova defeated Xavier's Madeleine Rexroat in the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-4.
West Virginia will face Michigan State on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the MSU Tennis Center in East Lansing, Mich.
