MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Redshirt senior Ceili McCabe of the West Virginia University cross country and track & field team alongside alum Amy Cashin finished competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase on August 4 for Team Canada and Australia, respectively.
McCabe finished seventh in the second heat, racing for a time of 9:20.71. The Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, native nearly clinched a new personal best time, after producing a career-best time and Canadian record time of 9:20.58 at the USATF LA Grand Prix Distance Classic in May.
In her second Olympic appearance, Cashin produced a great race in the third heat after injuring her knee on a barrier 500 meters into the steeplechase race. The Werribee, Victoria, Australia, native collected a time of 9:32.93, finishing ninth in her heat.
The pair of steeplechasers will return to Morgantown, as McCabe prepares for her final season of cross country at West Virginia.
