MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three members of the West Virginia University track & field team will compete in their respective countries' Olympic Trials on June 27-29, ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games from July 26 to August 11.
Senior
Ceili McCabe and redshirt junior
Cassandra Williamson are slated for the Canadian Athletics Bell Track and Field Championships in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on June 27-28.
McCabe kicks off competition for the Mountaineers on June 27 in the senior women's 3,000-meter steeplechase final at 7:13 p.m. ET. Additionally, Williamson will compete in the senior women's 800-meter semifinals on June 28 at 7:14 p.m.
Redshirt senior
Sarah Tait will compete in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase final on June 29 at the British UK Athletics Championships Manchester in Manchester, England at 2:00 p.m.
McCabe set the Canadian record in the steeplechase on May 17 at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix in Los Angeles, California, with an Olympic standard time of 9:20.58. Additionally, she became the fastest Mountaineer in program history to compete in the steeplechase with the time.
Williamson finished 15
th in the 800 meters at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on May 25, breaking the program record for the third time during the outdoor season with a time of 2:03.49.
Tait claimed a career-best time of 9:55.34 in the steeplechase at the Harry Jerome Track Classic on June 15, becoming the second-fastest Mountaineer in program history to compete in the event.
