MORGANTOWN, W.Va.
– The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the 2024-25 Mountaineer golf schedule.
"I think we have put together a challenging and exciting tournament schedule for our guys yet again for this upcoming season," coach
Sean Covich said. "We return to a lot of our favorite events while also branching out to some new tournaments that we are excited to add to our schedule."
The Mountaineers will open the fall season in Independence, Minnesota, at Windsong Farm Golf Club to compete in The Gopher Invitational for the fifth time in school history.
For the first time in school history, West Virginia will help host the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational at Mystic Rock Golf Course in Farmington, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
On Oct. 9-11, West Virginia will travel to Texas to compete in the Big 12 Match Play Tournament at The Clubs at Houston Oaks, featuring all 16 conference members for the first time. The Mountaineers won a program-best three matches last season, including a win over No. 25 Texas Tech.

The Mountaineers will play two tournaments in March – The Johnnie-O at Sea Island at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia, on March 17-18, and The Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Georgia, from March 21-23. It will be WVU's fourth consecutive appearance at The Schenkel.
The final regular season competition will take place on April 14-15 with the annual Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia. WVU has won its own event four times, including in 2024, along with having four individual champions.
The Big 12 Men's Golf Championship will take place on April 22-24 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, marking WVU's second appearance there in league championship play.
The 2025 NCAA Regionals will be hosted at various sites from May 12-14 with teams advancing to the 2025 NCAA Championship at La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California, from May 23-28. WVU will be looking for its second team NCAA Championship appearance in a row next May.
"The highlights will continue to be those events we are playing part in helping host, namely our signature home tournament at the Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye Golf Club," Covich said. "Plus staying close to home with the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational and then helping host the White Sands Collegiate Invitational in the Bahamas will also be fun for our players."
