Williamson Garners School Record at Big 12 Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team rounded out the final day of the 2024 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday evening in Waco, Texas.
Saturday's competition was highlighted by redshirt junior Cassandra Williamson who yet again etched her name in West Virginia's record book in the women's 800-meter race. Williamson collected a time of 2:03.87, finishing sixth overall earning All-Big 12 honors.
Williamson broke her previously held record of 2:04.51, which was recorded at the Bryan Clay Invitational earlier this season on April 12.
Additionally, freshman Kishay Rowe boasted a personal best in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:06.72, crossing the finish line in 14th place. Classmate Mary Delaney raced for a 2:11.38 time for the Mountaineers as well.
Redshirt senior Abigale Mullings rallied for a season best mark of 1.67 meters in the women's high jump while redshirt freshman Annishka McDonald added a 1.67-meter mark finish as well.
Williamson joins redshirt senior Mikenna Vanderheyden as West Virginia's two All-Big 12 honorees.
West Virginia's Williamson, Vanderheyden, Rowe and redshirt senior Sarah Tait will await seeding for the NCAA East Preliminary Round, which will be announced on Thursday, May 16 on NCAA.com.
The Mountaineers will have a bye week before heading to the NCAA East Preliminary Round on May 23-25. This year's NCAA prelims will be hosted by Kentucky at the Outdoor Track and Field Facility in Lexington, Kentucky.
