MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following his victory at the Mountaineer Invitational, sophomore
Carson Kammann has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Kammann shot 10-under-par to lead the Mountaineers to a team championship with a tournament-record 18-under-par at the Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
Kammann shot 71-68-67=206 to win the field ahead of senior teammate
Jackson Davenport, who finished 9-under-par with rounds of 71-69-67=207. Kammann becomes the fourth different Mountaineer to win a tournament and second individual this season, joining
Max Green, who won the Red Bandanna Invitational earlier this season. Kammann becomes the third different WVU golfer to win the Mountaineer Invitational, joining Mark Goetz (twice) and Max Sear.
West Virginia shot a tournament-record 18-under-par (285-285-276=846), besting the previous tournament record of 9-under-par, shot by NC State two years ago.
